Fiddlesticks Knitting Shawl Pins

Hand-crafted by Dorothy Siemens, the body and knobs of the shawl pins are created from polymer clay using a variety of techniques including image transfer, millefiori and texture patterns. The pins are made from real knitting needles, painted to match and then varnished. Shawl pins can be used to hold your shawl securely in place or as a closure for cardigans, vests and wraps. Because the pins are hand-crafted there may be slight variations in appearance from pin to pin, and they are available in limited quantites. Click on the thumbnails below for a larger image.

Lacy Oval Shawl Pins

These shawl pins use an image transfer method to create the lacy design (the edging for my Arabesque stole provided the image for this pin). Outside measurements of the oval are approx. 2.5 inches long and 2 inches wide. Available in three colours: blue, spruce or violet.

Peacock Feather Shawl Pin

This shawl pin incorporates texture and a millifiori accent for the peacock feather's "eye." The eye is polished to a glossy shine for contrasting interest with the feather. Outside measurements of the "feather" are approx. 3 inches long and 2 inches wide.

Retro Confetti Shawl Pins

These shawl pins were created using a millifiori technique for the lacy confetti effect. The pins are polished to a glossy shine. Outside diameter of the circle is approx. 2.25 inches. Available in four versions: ivory, coloured with blue border, coloured with mauve border and coloured with lime border.

This shawl pin was created by pressing into an original mold designed by Dorothy, then highlighting with gold powders. The rich colouring and lovely shape look vaguely like a paisley. Outer measurements of the paisley are approx. 3.25 inches long and 2 inches wide.

These whimsical shawl pins look like woodland leaves. The spring green pin has a little beetle shawl stick topper, while the autumn orange pin has a little acorn topper. Outer measurements of the leaf are approx. 3.25 inches long and 1.75 inches wide. Available in two colourways: spring green with beetle; autumn orange with acorn.
