The Romance Shawl features pretty lace patterns specially designed to create a romantic impression. There are hearts in a rosebud trellis, cupid's darts, a chain of hearts and a unique double edging.

Recommended for Advanced Intermediate lace knitters.

This shawl is knit on 3.25 mm (US 3) circular needles, starting from the middle top and increasing at the sides and middle to create a triangular shape. Lace is worked on one side only and the return rows are purled. The trickiest bit is picking up the stitches at the lower edge for the double edging, but the pattern includes helpful hints.

The design was created using four skeins of Artisan NZ Merino Lace Weight yarn (20 gram skein = 300 metres), three in a lighter colour and one in a darker or variegated colour for the edging, but any fine laceweight or cobweb yarn would be an acceptable substitute. Finished size is about 78 inches across the top and 42 inches down the middle centre.
