Lily of the Valley Stole The Lily of the Valley Stole is a pretty and feminine wrap, featuring traditional Estonian lace patterns. Little bobbles called "nupps," create the illusion of sweet sprays of lily of the valley. Recommended for Intermediate knitters. This shawl is knit on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles. It is worked by knitting a lace edging from which stitches are picked up to knit the main rectangular body. Then it is finished by knitting another lace edging and the stitches are cast off in the Estonian style. The pattern uses four ounces of Zephyr Laceweight Wool-Silk (1,260 yards). Finished size is 73 inches long and 28 inches wide. If a longer stole is desired, order six ounces of yarn (3 skeins - 1,890 yards) and work extra repeats. Back to Shawls |
