Create a figurative garden as you knit this shawl. Stroll with your needles down the flower-strewn paths that frame drifts of leaves, ferns and flowery borders. Based on Shetland lace patterns, this shawl is knit from the centre outwards and then the lacy leaf edging is added.
Recommended for Experienced knitters.
This shawl is knit on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles, starting from the centre and working outwards all around. Some of the Shetland lace patterns include leaf, fern, daisy and dew drops. Others are adapted for this pattern.
The pattern was designed for Artisan NZ Merino Lace Weight yarn (seven 20-gram skeins = each 300 metres), but a fine laceweight or cobweb yarn is an acceptable substitute. Finished size is 60 inches square.
